Who Are We?

Our Mission

Deatsville Baptist Church exists to glorify God and further His kingdom by making disciples, evangelizing the lost, worshiping the Lord, serving the community, and exercising stewardship of our resources.

Making Disciples

“to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” - Ephesians 4:12

Evangelizing the Lost

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’” - Isaiah 52:7

Worshiping the Lord

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!” - Psalm 95:6

Serving the Community

“Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” - Romans 12:13

Stewarding our Resources

“Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful." - 1 Corinthians 4:2

Our Beliefs

Deatsville Baptist Church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention.  Click here for the Baptist Faith and Message, the core statement of faith of the SBC.

Pastor: Paul Russell

Pastor Paul and his wife, Karen, along with their daughters, Desiree & Mary, came to Deatsville in January 2017. Paul had served five churches in Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia, as Pastor prior to coming here. He enjoys hanging out with church folks, teaching the Word of God, listening to music, and playing drums. He blogs (irregularly) at HappyDaddyBlog.

Youth Pastor: Shannon Smith

Bro. Shannon came back to Deatsville in the summer of 2015 with his wife, Lisa, and their daughter, Haley. He grew up in Deatsville, graduating from Holtville High School before joining the Air Force, where he currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel at Maxwell AFB. He loves our kids and longs for them to know, love, and walk with Jesus in this life. He is an avid runner and recently qualified for the 2018 Boston Marathon.

Music: Richard & Becky Edgar

Bro. Richard serves as our Minister of Music, and his wife, Becky, is our pianist. Richard grew up in our church, and he and Becky have been serving together here for many years. We are grateful for their faithful ministry!
